DATA ANALYTICS TOOLS FOR MEA DATA
Introduction
The electrophysiology core facility (ePHYS) has developed a data analytics tools for fast, automated, and flexible analysis of large neuronal data set generated with the Alpha MED Scientific system.
The ToolBox is a library of R functions designed for spike analysis.
Workflow
Spikes are extracted using Mobius software (Alpha MED Scientific) which produces data files in CSV format that are loaded and supported by the R functions.
An analytical guideline is created allowing the analysis of several recordings at the same time and customized analysis.
Outputs
Visualization of spike waveform
Temporal and spatial visualization of spike activity (raster plot and heat map)
Spiking metrics
Number of active electrodes and mean firing rate (MFR) are extracted for each condition as specified in the analytical guideline. The firing rate for all electrodes is also displayed.
Highlights
The temporal balance between self-renewal and differentiation of human neural stem cells requires the amyloid precursor protein.
